| The town of Arezzo has Etruscan-Roman origins; at the end of the XIVth century it became a free commune. It was Francesco Petrarca’s native town and today it still preserves remarkable religious monuments (like San Francesco’s Church, in which we find the so well-known Piero della Francesca’s History of the True Cross) and many interesting Renaissance architectures. An amusing event is then the “Giostra del Saracino”, a Medioeval joust that takes place every last Sunday of August and the first Sunday of September in Piazza Grande, one the most charming squares of the town. And in this delightful spot you can find the Antica Osteria Agania; since almost 200 years it has been inside the original structure of the town. |
